Against Tobacco

Tobacco Industries should stop trying to promote their product to underage teens and children. Tobacco industries have been promoting their product since they got the idea to grow it from the Natives in the early 1600's. The Virgina Company shipped young men and children to help plant and care for the tobacco, as young as the age of 15. They even had 7 year old boys smoking tobacco in the fields. Truth, a company that is trying to sway people from using tobacco products, states several facts about the industry advertising to underage teenagers and kids. One fact said tobacco products are "depicted in 3 out of 4 youth rated movies." The Truth website also displayed a fact saying some stores had "advertisments at the eye-level of a child." It was also stated that a tobacco company "considered adding honey because teenagers like sweet." All these advertisments add up to more children and teens getting into a bad habit of smoking. In an article on MediaFamily.org, stipulated 63.2% of marketing dollars went to retailers and wholesalers in order to reduce the prices of cigarettes. That was all because teens thought the price was too high. MediaFamily also informed that children and teen become less fit, and acquire more lung related illnesses than others who dont smoke. Also an addiction is more likely to occur when starting at a young age. In conclusion, their are more risks taken when children smoke, so think about their needs and lives, and STOP promoting smoking to the underage!
